EIGHTS HEAD WIN

In excellent conditions, Leander along with 336 other crews, capped off the head race season by racing the famous Head of The River Race in London from Chiswick to Putney.

In a time of 17:06, Leander’s A crew took the win for the second year in succession, winning by 12 seconds over Oxford Brookes.

The winning crew from stroke to bow was: Matt Rowe, Will Stewart, Archie Drummond, Miles Beeson, Josh Bowesman-Jones, James Vogel, Levin Graf, Dan Graham and Cox Jack Tottem.

Men’s Head Coach Matt Beechey said: “It was a great row from the crew and a brilliant day for the whole club. We thank the HORR team for holding such a great event and thanks to Fulham Reach boat club for hosting us on the day.”

Leander B improved their finishing place from the previous year, also finishing in a strong 4th spot. This crew comprised Miles Devereux, Jack Prior, Alex Logan, Kenny Coplan, Matt Fielding, Calvin Tarczy, George Reed, Thibaud Turlan and Cox Hermione Hill.

Finally, finishing in an encouraging 10th place was our C crew, primarily full of our gap year boys with a couple of seniors. This crew consisted of: Earl Marvin, Alex Underwood, Alex Abulhoff, Christian Lawrence, Nathan Luff, William Mclean, Ryder Apatu, Rupert Apps and Cox Peter Litwin.

Following hot on the heels of the women’s win at WeHorr, these results demonstrate strength in depth across the Leander squad as we go in to the regatta season.
