A selection of our men’s squad raced at Marlow International Regatta this weekend. As usual, Dorney conditions brought in strong winds and a few white caps to the water, adding excitement to the racing. A composite championship double of Leander and Marlow Rowing Club had a successful regatta winning both the time trial and the final.
Our junior men’s squad were able to use the side by side racing to their advantage to move from a 3rd place finish in their time trial to a second place finish in the A final later that morning.
With a strong tail wind brewing, our men’s coxless four had some tight racing and placed 2nd in their final.
Our men’s gap year eight had a great progression between their time trial and fina. Having placed 12th, they were able to push through a strong field to win the B final posting an impressive time in the side by side racing.
The men’s quad was able to get out to an early lead in their final, establishing their placing from the time trial and held the lead all the way down the course to win the A final.
We had two singles racing in the championship singles A final following on from their strong time trial placing, a humdinger of a race brought through great 8 lane, side by side battles and Daniel Jones and George Staden ended up 4th and 5th respectively.
A strong showing from our men’s squad for their final run down Eton Dorney this season and an exciting point to begin their Henley Royal Regatta campaigns.
We’ll have one more stop at Qualifiers this Friday for some crews before racing begins.
Thank you to the Colgan Foundation for their continued support as well as everyone along the bank cheering.
