The first Turkey Sculls race in three years took place just before Christmas. It was a welcome return for this fast and furious mixed ability event after a Covid-induced break. Nine quads sprinted a 200m course from the HRR finish line to the club, for the chance to win a Copas turkey.
The winners were Sam Meijer, Eleanor Brinkhoff, Chris Fry and Hylton Harvey.
Jonathan Jackson, Talent ID coach said: “It’s a bit erratic and crazy. It’s mixed ability so you have young athletes in with world champions and coaches. It wraps up the year well. It’s fun. Some people take it more seriously than others. As a rower if you’re in a boat, even if it’s a fun race, you have to destroy your opposition.”
Club Members on the bank enjoyed free mulled wine, vegetable soup and bacon rolls.
